Man arrested for allegedly macheting his 100-year-old father to death in Ogun

The Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps codenamed So-Safe has arrested a 38-year-old man identified as Mathew Ifeanyi, who allegedly macheted his biological father to death in Ogun.

According to a press release by So-Safe through the office of its State Commander, (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, the Divisional Officer of the Corps at Alade/Atago/Ntabo Divisional Command received information that a middle-aged man was attacking his biological father with cutlass.

The statement noted that the Divisional Command patrol team were thereafter instructed to rescue the helpless parent Anthony Nnadike, who was100 years old and to get the son arrested. They swung into action immediately but on getting to the scene, the victim had been rushed down to the nearest general hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor due to the severe injury he sustained.

The statement added that the culprit resisted arrest but was apprehended. During preliminary investigation into what prompted his action, he said that inability of his father to refund the sum of ₦70,000 since 22nd July, 2022 made him attack the centenarian.

“The suspect has however been transfered to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Headquarter for further investigation and likely prosecution”, the statement read.
