1. President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, filed an emergency motion to stop the Chicago State University, CSU, United States, from releasing his academic record to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Tinubu is seeking a delay in the implementation of the self-effectuating order directing the CSU to comply with Atiku’s subpoenas till Monday.
2. Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has begged Governor Godwin Obaseki for forgiveness “if there is any mistake I have made as human.” Shaibu, who made the plea while speaking to journalists on Thursday, said the plea became necessary to ensure that the present administration finished well in the State.
3. The Senate has asked the Police to deepen investigation to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba are unravelled. The Chairman Senate Committee on Creative Economy, Elisha Abbo, said this on Thursday when he led a delegation, including Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo on a condolences visit to Mrs Adebose Olumuyi (Mohbad’s mother) in Lekki, Lagos.
4. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has revoked 165 lands in Abuja, some of which belong to notable Nigerians. A document signed by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Olushade Adeshola, reveals that the revocation was due to the violation and contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy.
5. The National and State Assembly Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, has sacked three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers. Those sacked include Remvyat Nanbol, Agbalak Adukuchill and Happiness Akawu, representing Langtang central, Rukuba/Iregwe and Pengana constituencies in the State House of Assembly.
6. Nigerians resident in the United States (U.S.) got an invitation Wednesday night from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to invest in the Nigerian economy. The President told a gathering of compatriots at a Town Hall meeting in New York that their fatherland had become home for business opportunities.
7. The Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Thursday upheld the victory of Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the March 18 governorship poll. The tribunal, chaired by Justice Kudirat Morayo Akano, also struck out the allegations of over-voting and bypassing BVAS in the election, in the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga and the party.
8. The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in collaboration with national security agencies has intensified efforts to secure the safe release of eight prospective corps members kidnapped in Zamfara State en route to the Orientation Camp in Sokoto. NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Yushua Ahmed made the disclosure during an interactive session with members of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth, led by Martin Esin.
9. Two suspects are currently being detained at the Tudun Wada Police Station in Gusau town, the Zamfara State capital for allegedly killing a Voice of Nigeria reporter, Hamisu Danjigba. The suspects: Bilal Haruna and Mansur Haruna are the sons of Danjigba’s elder brother, Malam Haruna.
10. Protesters and fans of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, were on Thursday night allegedly dispersed with teargas at the Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State. The protesters held a candlelight procession in honour of the late singer.
