Breaking: Popular Nollywood Actor Is Dead
The Nigerian movie industry has lost another veteran, Yemi Adeyemi popularly known as ‘Suara’.
The veteran, who acted alongside Sola Sobowale in the popular hit TV series, Super Story was said to have died on Sunday, September 24th.
The devastating news was made known by his family in a statement signed by his son, Adetoun Adeyemi on Monday, urging the public to give them some privacy in their time of grief.
The family didn’t disclose the cause of his death but promised to give more details about his burial.
Adedotun Adeyemi read: “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Oluyemi Lawrence Adeyemi (Suara) who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
We are consoled because we know that he has gone to rest. We kindly request that the family be allowed some privacy in this time of grief. More details about the burial will be communicated soon.”
Movie critic and writer, who also doubles as the close friend of the deceased, Dr Shaibu Husseini also confirmed the heartbreaking news.
“I have been reliably informed that veteran actor Chief Yemi Adeyemi aka Suara has transited.
“Popular as Suara, Chief Adeyemi rode to prominence playing Suara in the rested ‘Oh Father, Oh Daughter’ series of the hugely popular Super Story stories by Wale Adenuga Productions.
Baba Suara as some of his younger colleagues simply called him, reportedly “acted out” this Sunday. Journey well Baba Suara. You will be sorely missed. Odigba Sir. Journey Well….” Husseini wrote.
Yemi Adeyemi was one of the star actors in one of Wale Adenuga’s production series, Super Story, ‘Oh Father! Oh Daughter!, where he was a polygamist with Bukky Wright as his first wife and Sola Sobowale as his second wife.
His death is coming just a few days after actor and filmmaker, Charles Granville was announced dead. He was said to have died on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
The news was made known by one of Charles’s friends, Umanu Elijah, who announced that Charles had finally given up the ghost after years of battling a protracted illness.
Charles was one of the main stars of the popular Africa Magic series Tinsel.
Last week, Nollywood lost another veteran, Akeem Alamutu. The Yoruba actor passed in the early hours of September 19, 2023.
Breaking the news of his demise, Actor, Odunlade Adekola, took to his social media handle and announced the death of the Yoruba film legend.
Odunlade urged everyone to embrace a humble existence and to keep in mind that all things will eventually become part of the annals of history.
The likes of Funke Akindele, Shaffy Bello, Jaiye Kuti, Hilda Dokubo, Muyiwa Ademola, and more paid respect to him.
