The manager of Napoli, Rudi Garcia, has insisted that Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen is 100 percent committed to the club despite all the controversies connected to the player.

After being seen shouting at coach Garcia for substituting him, being mocked on Napoli’s official TikTok page for missing a penalty last weekend, and snubbing his teammates hours before the Serie A game against Udinese, Osimhen was named in the starting eleven for the game and scored the club’s second goal in their 4-1 win on Wednesday, September 27.

After the 24-year-old Nigerian striker scored the goal, Osimhen who seems to be nursing the annoyance of being mocked by his club, tried not to celebrate before his teammates swamped him.

Before Osimhen’s goal, the referee was called to the side-monitor to review a penalty incident after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brought down in the box. After the review, the referee awarded Napoli a spot-kick which Piotr Zielinski converted.

After Osimhen’s goal, Jaka Bijol whose goalscoring attempts hit the post twice during the game, ended his 17 games without scoring as he dinked the ball over goalkeeper Silvestri to record his first goal of the season.

With 10 minutes left, Lazar Samardzic’s spectacular solo effort gave Udinese a fighting chance, but a minute later Giovanni Simeone, who had come on to replace Osimhen, restored Napoli’s three-goal lead.

With the victory, Napoli, who are currently in the fifth spot on the league table, have closed the gap on the league’s leaders Inter Milan to only four points.

“I have a very good relationship with Victor. I am happy for him because he scored tonight. After the match in Bologna, we were all frustrated, and angry, Victor in particular, because he missed the penalty.
