Anambra South Senator, Ifeanyi Ubah, has defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
CITYNEWS NIGERIA reports that Ubah was the only member of the YPP in the present Senate.
Ubah’s defection was announced on the floor of the Senate on Thursday by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
In a letter to Akpabio, Ubah said his defection was due to irreconcilable differences within the YPP.
Ubah’s defection to the APC increases the party’s majority in the Senate to 60 members. The number of political parties represented in the Senate is now down to six.
