BREAKING: Appeals Court Upturns Kano High Court Judgment Seeking the Sack of Abia Governor Otti
The Appeal Court sitting in Kano State has dismissed the May 18 judgement of the Kano State Federal High Court, presided by Justice M. N. Yunusa, which sacked Alex Otti as governor of Abia State.
CITYNEWS NIGERIA reports that the Appeal Court faulted the trial court’s hasty determination of the suit even without joining the necessary parties who were the actual targets of the claims in the suit.
The appellate court, therefore, awarded one million naira (N1,000,000) cost against the plaintiff, Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim, who had filed the suit (FHC/KN/CS/107/2023) seeking the disqualification of all elected candidates of the Labour Party.
The decision by the court comes barely two weeks after the governor secured victory at the Abia State governorship election petition tribunal.
The tribunal on October 6 affirmed Alex Otti as the duly elected governor of Abia State.
