Funke Akindele emotional as she dedicates new movie to her late mom (Video)

Popular Nollywood actress and award-winning filmmaker, Funke Akindele has dedicated her new movie, A Tr!be Called Judah to her late mother, Dr Adebanjo Akindele.

CityNews Nigeria reported that the movie star held the premiere of her much-talked-about movie on Sunday, December 10, which has lots of celebrities in attendance.

While speaking at the premiere, she revealed that she wrote the script of the movie, unknowingly that her mother was going to die

She described the movie story as passionate, stating that she wrote the script before her mother passed on in February. Dedicating it to her mother, she urged the public to enjoy the movie and pass it on to others, while adding that it is important for practitioners to unite and work as one.

“This story is so passionate. It is dedicated to my mum, who passed away in February. I didn’t know my mum was going to pass on but I wrote the story, but she is gone now, thank God. I want you all to enjoy the movie and pass it on”.

On Sunday night, it was the gathering of De Creme De La Creme of the entertainment industry at A Tr!be Called Judah movie premiere.

Funke, who is one not to be outdone, threw a big premiere party for her latest production. Celebrities from different sectors of the entertainment industry honored the filmmaker with their presence a the event. The likes of Ini Edo, Phyna, Shaffy Bello, Adunni Ade, Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Ruth Kadiri, Juliana Olayode, Ali Baba and Hilda Dokubo graced the event.

Also present were, Tomike Adeoye, Sheggz and Bella, Angel & Soma, Ini Dima Okojie, Sharon Ooja, Uti Nwachukwu, Boma, Most Abebe, Priscilla Ojo, Etinosa Idemudia, Hilda Dokubo, Kiekie, Yomi Dunn, Taaooma, Mercy Eke, Timini Egbuson, Alesh Sanni, and Faith Morey.

The theme of the night was “Costume Party Extravaganza” and Mercy Eke, Juliana Olayode, Faith Morey, Ali Baba, Alesh Sanni, Phyna and a few others understood the assignment with their hot looks.

Penning an appreciation note, Funke appreciated God for the successful premiere and also extended gratitude to her family, friends, and colleagues for coming out to celebrate her.

A Tr!be called Judah follows the story of a family of boys “who decide to rob a small mall with the help of their mother. However, on getting there, they are faced with armed robbers.”

The film is set to premiere on December 15, 2023, and will feature a star-studded cast that includes Funke Akindele, Jide Kene Achufusi, Timini Egbuson, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, and Olumide Oworu.

Also joining them are Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, Genoveva Umeh, Faithia Williams, Nosa Rex, Greg Ojefua, Ibrahim Yekini, Boma Akpore, Paschaline Alex, Etinosa Idemudia, Juliana Olayode, and Yvonne Jegede.
