AFCON 2023: Super Eagles dump Cameroon out of tournament, to play Angola next

The Super Eagles on Saturday, beat Cameroon 2-0 in the Round of 16 of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Both sides had met at the same stage of the tournament last time out.

That time, Nigeria came from 2-1 down to win 3-2.

In Abidjan, Jose Peseiro’s men were much more superior to their West African rivals.

The Eagles had a goal disallowed following a VAR check, after Semi Ajayi thought he had scored.

However, Victor Osimhen set up Ademola Lookman to make it 1-0.

With the match looking to end that way, Calvin Bassey crossed into the area for Lookman to double Nigeria’s lead.

Nigeria will now face Angola in the quarter-final of the competition, following their 3-0 victory over Namibia earlier in the day.
