1. Veteran actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu has passed on. According to multiple reports from sources close to him, the veteran comedian passed away at Evercare hospital in Lagos. The comic actor had undergone surgeries leading to the amputation of one of his legs.

2. Embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele has moved out of the apex bank governor’s quarters in Lagos. Reports said Emefiele was accompanied to the quarters by a team led by the CBN Special Investigator, Jim Obazee to move his personal effects from the building located on Glover Road, Ikoyi.

3. No fewer than two persons were shot on Saturday at Okere Community in Warri Metropolis of Delta State. It was gathered that the victims were shot by security operatives believed to be soldiers of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army. The victims were identified as Macaulay Uku and another simply identified as Eguono.

4. The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has assured Abuja residents that he will make an impact as FCT Minister. He said the decision of President Bola Tinubu to turn the nation’s capital, Abuja, into a huge construction site is to ensure that his Renewed Hope Agenda finds immediate expressions in the lives of residents even before his first anniversary in office.

5. The Federal Government, on Saturday, said train services on Port Harcourt to Aba route will start operation by the end of March. The Port Harcourt-Aba rail project is part of the larger Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railroad project initiated by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

6. Senate President Godswill Akpabio has charged serving lawmakers – at the Federal and State levels – to deliver on their mandate by ensuring quality representation in all ramifications. According to him, Nigeria will attain greatness if those in the lawmaking arm of government justify their election, by delivering tangible projects that will further boost the education sector.

7. Truck drivers brought traffic on Zaria Road to a standstill on Saturday after a confrontation with officials of the Nigeria Customs Service. The incident occurred at Kwanar Dawaki after customs officers reportedly shot at the tyre of a truck, forcing it to a stop.

8. Vice-President Kashim Shettina has assured that the federal government would deploy new strategies to fight armed banditry, kidnapping and other security challenges in different parts of the country. The Vice President stated this after he held a closed door meeting with former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday.

9. The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has summoned the Chief Executives of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, over the worsening power supply in their regions. The Minister in a statement by his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, also summoned the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Sule Ahmed Abdulazeez over the deteriorating power situation.

10. The Federal Government has commenced the prosecution of some staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission and political party members indicted for various electoral offences during the 2023 general elections. Electoral offences remain a major threat to credible, free and fair elections in Nigeria, as they often heighten political tension and trigger violence.
