1. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, has confirmed the outbreak of a disease of unknown origin in Sokoto State. The director general of the agency, Dr Jide Idris, said so far, a total of 164 suspected cases have been identified in six wards of Isa local government area.

2. A Kano High Court has fixed April 17, 2024, as the date to arraign the immediate past Governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his wife, and six others. The accused persons will be arraigned on eight-count charges concerning dollar bribery allegation, diversion and misappropriation of funds that include alleged $413,000 and N1.38bn bribery, among others.

3. The Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has expressed regrets that the region voted for President Bola Tinubu in 2023. In an interview with Guardian on Tuesday, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, spokesman of the forum, said going forward, the region will prioritize unity and consensus in selecting a candidate for the highest office in the land.

4. Suspected cultists have killed one prominent young man in Awka, Anambra State, leaving others injured. The incident took place on Tuesday evening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University temporary site junction in the capital city.

5. The impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, to obtain a complaint form to file a formal petition against the Chief Judge of Edo, Justice Daniel Okungbowa. Shaibu was impeached on Monday by the State House of Assembly, following the adoption of the report of a seven-man panel set up by the Chief Judge to probe him for alleged perjury and leaking the government’s secrets.

6. The leadership of the Labour Party on Tuesday warned the Nigeria Labour Congress against trying to hijack the political platform, saying it lacked the power to sack the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee as recently declared. The party’s response was a reaction to Monday’s resolution taken by the NLC Political Commission at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.

7. Controversial Islamic cleric, Idris Abdul’aziz, the chief imam of Dusten-Tanshi Jumma’ah Mosque, Bauchi, has denied threatening the life of the president’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu. He cleared the air on Tuesday at his first public appearance after his return from self-imposed exile.

8. The Board of Inquiry constituted by Defence Headquarters to probe the March 17 killing of 17 soldiers at Okuama, Delta State, is scheduled to commence sitting today in Warri.

9. Benue State government, on Tuesday, conducted a mass burial for 17 victims of the recent armed herdsmen attack on Mbakyor community, Mbalom Council Ward of Gwer East Local Government Area of the state.

10. The Super Falcons have qualified for the Olympics for the first time since 2008 after beating South Africa 1-0 on Aggregate. The Falcons settled for a 0-0 draw against the Bayana Bayans in Pretoria on Tuesday.
