1. Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar and the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, attended the first Durbar in the state in four years, on Wednesday. Alhaji Mustafa Aminu, the Galadima Adamawa, senior government officials, traditional title holders, district heads, among others also attended the event.
2. There was tension in Zamfara State, on Wednesday, when a worshiper was mistakenly killed by a security operative who was reportedly chasing hoodlums. The operative, who is said to be of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, was immediately attacked by irate youths.
3. Members of the Military Board of Inquiry constituted by the Defence Headquarters to investigate the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta, have commenced sitting. They convened yesterday at the Governor’s Office Annex in Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
4. The cut in diesel price by the Dangote Refinery will reduce inflation, President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said on Wednesday. He believes with the cost of diesel dropping to N1,200 from N1,650, the inflation rate will further drop.
5. Works Minister, Dave Umahi has said nobody can intimidate the Federal Government over the right of way of the Lagos-Calabar highway project. Umahi, who spoke on national television last night, stressed that the Federal Government owns the right of way of the nation’s coastal roads.
6. The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, on Wednesday, paraded no fewer than 45 suspected criminals in the state. The suspects, who were apprehended by the corps’ personnel across the 18 local government areas of the state, were presented at the headquarters of the corps in Akure, the state capital.
7. The legal team of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has warned that they may boycott court proceedings due to perceived injustices against their client. They stated that they would not participate in the proceedings if the IPOB leader’s right to a fair trial was not respected by the Department of State Services.
8. The abducted Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement in the 2023 general election, Sobomabo Jackrich, has regained his freedom. Jackrich who was whisked away by gunmen who invaded his residence in Usokun community, Degema Local Government Area of the state in the wee hours of Monday was freed on Wednesday.
9. Impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr Philip Shaibu, has said his removal by the Edo State House of Assembly would not stand the test of time, adding that the whole exercise was because of the September 21 governorship election in the state. Shaibu stated this when he received the acting Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Emperor Jaret Tenebe, in his Abuja residence.
10. An auto crash occurred, on Wednesday, on the Third Mainland bridge, Lagos, in which two passengers were flung into the lagoon. The 18-seater LT bus with the number plate, FKJ 872 YA, was heading toward Lagos Island when the tragedy struck, at the Adeniyi Adele end of the bridge.
