US golfer, Grayson Murray has passed away at the age of 30, according to an announcement from the PGA Tour.
Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, had withdrawn from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday due to illness after completing 16 holes in his second round.
“We are devastated and heartbroken to share that Grayson Murray passed away this morning,” said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan on Saturday.
“I am at a loss for words. The PGA Tour is a family, and losing a member of our family is profoundly painful. We mourn Grayson and extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
The PGA Tour has stated that grief counsellors will be available for players at the event.
A rising star in golf, Murray had clinched three significant victories early in his career.
