France captain, Kylian Mbappe, has said he is looking forward to beating Portugal in their Euro 2024 quarter-final clash on Friday, despite his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ahead of the game, Mbappe has revealed he speaks with “unique” Ronaldo regularly.
“It’s truly an honour, everyone knows the respect I have for him. He is still a legend and we are in contact but I hope tomorrow that we can win.
“We have to appreciate who he is and what he has done — he is a unique player. His CV speaks for itself,” Mbappe told a press conference.
Mbappé and France are yet to score from open play in four games, depending on a penalty and own goals to progress to this stage.
