President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, created the Ministry of Livestock Development.
This ministry will be tasked with overseeing issues relating to livestock management in the country.
No substantive Minister has been appointed for the new ministry.
Meanwhile, the existing National Livestock Committee will henceforth by headed by former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof Attahiru Jega.
According to the presidency, the Committee is expected to give the President regular feedback on its activities, especially in tackling challenges associated with farmers and herders.
