Breaking: Protest: President Tinubu In Closed-Door Meeting With Traditional Rulers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is presently engaged in a crucial closed-door discussion with traditional rulers at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

CityNews understands that the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, led the delegation.

The proceedings commenced at approximately 2:30 pm upon the President’s arrival at the Council Chamber.

The specific agenda for the meeting remains undisclosed. However, it is speculated that it may address the escalating calls for nationwide protests against economic challenges, set to occur from August 1 to 10, 2024.

The ‘EndBadGovernance’ movement has garnered considerable attention on social media platforms, despite the organizers’ anonymity, with no official entity taking responsibility for its initiatives.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, are also in attendance.

Additionally, Governors Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman of Kwara State, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, and Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who chairs the Progressives Governors Forum, are present.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, are also participating in the meeting.

Earlier, President Tinubu engaged in discussions with APC Governors at the Villa, following which the Governors refrained from briefing the press regarding the meeting’s outcomes.
