Kamaru Usman: I’m The “Best In The World” Despite Successive Defeats

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, who has faced setbacks in recent Octagon appearances, believes that he is still the best in the game.

In a discussion on a podcast with Henry Cejudo, Kamaru Usman expressed his determination to reclaim the UFC welterweight title that has eluded him in recent bouts.

Reflecting on his loss to Khamzat Chimaev in his last fight at UFC 294, which marked his third consecutive defeat, Usman dismissed speculations about his retirement, emphasizing his commitment to continue competing at the highest level.

While Usman’s recent losses have garnered attention, his remarkable reign as a UFC champion continues to resonate in the MMA community. His inclusion in ESPN’s prestigious list of the top 10 greatest MMA fighters of the 21st century underlines his legacy in the sport.

Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman’s eyes are on the much-anticipated UFC 304 main event featuring the reigning champion Leon Edwards and challenger Belal Muhammad. Usman, having shared the octagon with Edwards in two prior encounters, closely monitors the outcome as he meticulously plans his journey back to title contention.

He said: “I’m going to do what it takes to earn that title fight, and then that fight’s going to happen. Doesn’t matter. The boogeyman is on sabbatical right now. That’s all it is. I still got tread left in these tyres, and I’m still going to show that I am one of the best if not the best in the world.”
