The exceptional performance of Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, in Serie A has been brought to light by sports statistics company, Opta.
Opta revealed that since the 1994/95 season, only two players in Serie A history have had a better minutes-per-goal ratio than Victor Osimhen. These players are former Brazil international Ronaldo Nazário and Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Opta wrote on X: “Only Cristiano Ronaldo (one goal every 104 minutes) and Ronaldo (one goal every 117 minutes) have a better minutes-per-goal average than Victor Osimhen (one goal every 125 minutes) in Serie A since the 1994/95 season, with at least 10 goals.”
This revelation comes at a time when there are concerns about Osimhen’s market value and the challenges of finding a European club willing to meet his substantial release clause worth about €130 million.
Negotiations between Napoli and PSG for Osimhen’s transfer have reportedly hit a roadblock. Napoli are seeking either the inclusion of Lee Kang-in in the deal or a payment ranging from €120 million to €130 million. However, PSG are reluctant to include Kang-in and are unwilling to pay the full release clause amount.
The impasse has prompted discussions about Osimhen’s value in the transfer market and left his future soaked in uncertainty.
