Protest: Tinubu’s Minister Speaks On Asking MTN, Airtel To Tamper With Network
The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has denied claims that he directed telecom companies in the country to tamper with networks due to the nationwide protests which began on Thursday.
CityNews Nigeria reports that Nigerians using MTN, Airtel and other networks have had difficulties in accessing the internet due to the unusual slow speed of browsing.
This development has led to accusations that the network issues might be connected to efforts by the President Bola Tinubu administration to frustrate the demonstrations of nationwide protesters.
However, speaking during an appearance on Channels TV, Tijani said, “There’s no instruction to tamper with (phone) networks.”
Earlier in the day, Tijani frowned at the looting of the National Communication Commission, (NCC) building in Kano State.
He said it would be a setback to the federal government’s efforts at encouraging youth employment through technology.
