Breaking: DSS Arrests Leader Of #EndBadGovernance Protest In Abuja
The Department of State Services (DSS), has arrested one of the leaders of the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Micheal Lenin.
According to information obtained by this online medium, Lenin was arrested around 2 am on Monday at his residence in the Apo area of the nation’s capital city by DSS operatives.
Confirming the development, the Director of Mobilisation, Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, told Punch that Lenin’s house was raided by the DSS.
He alleged that the DSS also assaulted him during his arrest.
“Lenin has been arrested by the DSS. He was picked up during a raid on his house around 2am.
“He was arrested and tortured in the presence of his family. We are demanding his immediate and unconditional release,” Adenola said.
The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, could not be reached to confirm the report as of press time as he has yet to respond to a message sent to him.
Meanwhile, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu over his speech delivered on Sunday in response to the #EndBadGovernance protest by Nigerians.
Atiku said the speech by President Tinubu failed to convince Nigerians or address the demands of the protesters.
The former Vice President said the President’s speech lacked substance and failed to ignite the faith of Nigerians in his reform activities which has caused economic hardship in the country.
Atiku, in his statement on Sunday, made available to Naija News by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, said Tinubu’s speech failed on all fronts, including getting leaked prematurely, which is another sign of the dwindling confidence in his administration.
The PDP chieftain added that the present economic hardship is the sole responsibility of the current administration, and the government needs to start providing solutions instead of blaming past governments and those in the opposition parties.
