The English Football Association, FA, have appointed Lee Carsley as the Three Lions’ interim manager for the start of the Nations League campaign in September.
Carsley will now lead England in the September matches away to the Republic of Ireland and at home to Finland.
He replaces Gareth Southgate, who recently resigned as head coach of the England football national team.
Southgate brought his eight years in charge to an end after Spain defeated England in the Euro 2024 final last month.
“It’s an honour to step up and lead this England squad on an interim basis,” Carsley said after the appointment.
“As I am very familiar with the players and the cycle of international football.”
