Speaker Obasa Congratulates Senator Adefuye At 80

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has described Senator Anthony Adefuye, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as a national treasure.

Dr. Obasa said this in a congratulatory message to honour the elder statesman as he turns 80 on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

In the message by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, the Speaker described Senator Adefuye as an elder filled with wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

“One beautiful thing about Senator Adefuye is his humility despite his age. You can’t fail to notice the way he mentors the young, encourages them and creates opportunities for their growth.

“Senator Adefuye truly believes in the coming generation just as he believes in Nigeria and works assiduously for the country’s advancement as an elder statesman.

“The histories of Lagos and Nigerian politics are incomplete without a mention of his name. He was one of those who played prominent roles in the June 12 struggle when the late MKO Abiola’s presidential victory was annulled,” Dr. Obasa said.

The Speaker noted that as a member of the GAC of Lagos State, Senator Adefuye is a respected leader with a very positive mindset.

“A straight-forward leader, Senator Adefuye is never found dawdling when there is a need to contribute to issues of state and national development.

“Baba commands a lot of respect, particularly amongst his colleagues. He is a great politician filled with knowledge and wisdom and he is always lively, healthy, up and doing.

“On behalf of my family and colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly, I celebrate the octogenarian and pray that God will continue to grant him good health, wisdom and the capacity to play more roles for the progress of Lagos and Nigeria,” the Speaker prayed.
