BREAKING: Top PDP Bayelsa chieftain arrested for illegal firearm possession
The Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Amadein Tibiebi, has been arrested on charges of illegal possession of a firearm.
Mr. Tibiebi, a former militant and self-proclaimed general, is currently being held and interrogated by the police under state command.
This arrest is linked to an earlier incident in November 2021, when a man named Richard Okon was taken into custody for allegedly possessing firearms illegally at a wake-keeping event.
In a confessional video, Okon claimed that he was working with Tibiebi Woinemi Amadein, stating that the gun in question belonged to him.
According to Sahara Reporters, Tibiebi is the nephew and Chief Security Officer to Senator Cleopas Moses, who represented Bayelsa Central in the 9th Senate.
Following Okon’s arrest, Tibiebi was previously invited by the police but managed to secure his release by presenting what was later identified as fake licenses and forged documents. His release was reportedly facilitated by his connections with influential members of the state PDP and the government.
However, a recent petition to the police led to Tibiebi’s current arrest. He is now being interrogated for illegal possession of a firearm and the forgery of a firearm license.
It has been reported that Tibiebi had previously boasted about being untouchable by law enforcement due to his connections with high-ranking PDP executives and state government officials.
