Pirlo sacked as Sampdoria manager
Sampdoria have confirmed the sacking of Andrea Pirlo as their manager.
The Serie B club announced Pirlo’s exit in a statement on Thursday.
The former Italy midfielder has been dismissed after starting the season with one draw and two losses, leaving them second-bottom in the table.
Pirlo had a one-year spell as Juventus manager in 2020-21, after he briefly coached their U-23 team.
After leaving Turin, he coached Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük in 2022, but again spent only one year in charge.
The 45-year-old was given the job as Sampdoria manager in June 2023, with the task of guiding the club back to Serie A.
However, they finished seventh in Serie B, before being eliminated by Palermo in the preliminary round of the promotion playoffs.
