AFCON 2025 qualifiers: Results of today’s matches

CITYNEWS NIGERIA brings you the results of all today’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying matches.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Republic of Benin 3-0 to top Group D with three points from one game.

A brace from Ademola Lookman and a goal from substitute Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the victory over Benin.

In the other AFCON qualifier played on Saturday, Cameroon defeated Namibia 1-0 at Roumdé Adjia Stadium.

The Indomitable Lions were made to work hard for the win, with Namibia providing a stern test.

Vincent Aboubakar scored the only goal of the match in the second half to give Cameroon all three points.

Also, in another AFCON qualifier played today, Mauritania won 1-0 against Botswana in Nouakchott.

Sidi Amar’s 84th-minute strike handed the Mourabitounes a crucial win to begin their AFCON qualifying campaign.

The match was a cagey affair, with Mauritania dominating possession but struggling to break down a resolute Botswana defense.
