BREAKING: Sowore Released Following Arrest by Nigerian Authorities

Omoyele Sowore, the 2019 and 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) has been released by the Nigerian Immigration Service and his international passport returned.

Sowore, a vocal critic of the government, was taken into custody on Sunday morning by Nigerian Authorities immediately upon his arrival in Nigeria.

Sowore arrived from the Washington Dulles International Airport at around 9.43 WAT.

He had revealed that his international passport was confiscated.

His arrest was not unexpected, as it was earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) had instructed airport security and immigration authorities to intercept and detain him upon his return to Nigeria.

The directive to arrest Sowore was allegedly issued by the newly appointed DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, due to his prominent role in the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests.
