US judge rules on Prince Harry’s American visa application
A United States, US, judge, Carl Nichols has ruled against making public the American visa application of the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.
Judge Nichols ruled that Harry’s US visa application should remain private despite him admitting taking drugs in his memoir.
In his memoir released in January 2023, the British Prince wrote of using marijuana, cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms.
A lawsuit from the conservative Heritage Foundation, sought to compel the US government to release Harry’s Immigration records to show if he disclosed using drugs.
Ruling on Monday, Nichols held that “the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke’s immigration records.
Nichols said the public’s interest in the disclosure of Harry’s immigration records is “outweighed by the duke’s privacy interest”.
The judge added: “Like any foreign national, the duke has a legitimate privacy interest in his immigration status.”
Judge Nichols said the public’s interest in disclosure of Prince Harry’s immigration records is “outweighed by the duke’s privacy interest”.
Prince Harry moved to the US in January 2020 after announcing that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, would step back from royal duties.
