Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Adeyemo, more commonly known as Sunday Igboho, has denied involvement in an N1.6billion oil deal fraud.
This was stated in a press statement issued by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki, on Monday, describing the allegation as fabricated and baseless.
The statement stated that Sunday Igboho had never been a party to any oil transaction.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a fabricated and baseless article circulated by certain media platforms, alleging that Dr.Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been implicated in a N1.6billion oil fraud.
“This is nothing but a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of a man known for his integrity, commitment to justice, and unwavering support for the freedom and rights of the Yoruba people.
“We categorically state that Dr. Chief Sunday Igboho has no involvement in any fraudulent oil transaction, nor has he ever acted as a surety for any individual in such a deal.
“The allegations being circulated are completely false, and we challenge the publishers of these defamatory claims to provide credible evidence to substantiate their reports. Dr. Chief Sunday Igboho is a selfless leader whose mission is solely centred on the liberation of the Yoruba Nation and the welfare of his people.
“It is important to highlight that this smear campaign is part of a continued effort by certain entities to distract and discredit him in the face of his advocacy for the Yoruba Nation. This is not the first time falsehoods have been peddled against him, and it is disheartening to see reputable news outlets being used as instruments for character assassination.
“We wish to inform the public that Dr. Chief Sunday Igbohowill will be taking legal action against those responsible for this defamatory publication. We urge all well-meaning individuals and media organisations to disregard these baseless accusations and verify their information from credible sources before sharing.
“Furthermore, we strongly advise against any attempt to link Dr. Chief Sunday Igboho to unlawful activities, as he remains focused on the peaceful pursuit of self-determination for the Yoruba Nation.
“We remain resolute in our cause, and no amount of falsehood or intimidation will deter us from achieving our goal of freedom and justice for the Yoruba people.”
