Prosecutors allege Diddy offered bribe in Cassie’s case as they oppose his bond appeal

Federal prosecutors are doubling down on their argument to keep music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs behind bars, claiming he poses a threat to witnesses and alleged victims if released on bail.

According to newly filed court documents, prosecutors highlight Diddy’s alleged actions following the March 2016 beating of an unnamed victim—believed to be his former partner, Cassie—at a Los Angeles hotel.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office cited the now-infamous incident, where Diddy allegedly assaulted the victim during an event at the InterContinental Hotel. The documents describe a brutal scene, with Diddy accused of punching the victim, throwing her to the ground, kicking her, and attempting to drag her back to their hotel room. Though the victim’s name remains redacted, the description closely matches details from previously reported incidents involving Cassie.

Prosecutors are particularly focused on what transpired immediately after the assault. Hotel security, having witnessed the attack on surveillance footage, approached Diddy, who allegedly attempted to bribe the officer with a “stack of cash” to remain silent. Despite the security guard rejecting the bribe, Diddy reportedly directed his team to retrieve the footage, which prosecutors claim “disappeared” from the hotel’s servers within days.

Given this alleged attempt to obstruct justice, the prosecution is urging the court to uphold the lower court’s decision to deny Diddy bond, citing concerns that he could attempt to influence witnesses or destroy evidence. Diddy’s legal team has already filed multiple appeals to challenge the denial of bail, all of which have been unsuccessful so far.

As the case moves forward, the federal government is seeking to ensure Diddy remains in custody pending trial, arguing that his past behavior shows a pattern of attempting to evade justice.
