The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, says he is thankful that Stephen Abuwatsaye, the cab driver allegedly assaulted by a House of Representatives member, Alex Ikwechegh, in Abuja two weeks ago, did not apologize in a police station or before the case went to court.
Stephen shocked many Nigerians when he released a video last night where he tendered an unreserved apology to the lawmaker for ‘provoking’ him which resulted in their exchange of words and the lawmaker assaulting him. Stephen said he wants to forgive so that God can also forgive him as well for his tresspasses.
The video has led to mixed reactions with many claiming he was forced or threatened to make the video.
Reacting to the video via his X handle, Hundeyin said he is thankful that Stephen did not make the video in a police station, According to him, Nigerians would have dragged the police and would have attacked his person as well.
