Police uncover drug activity at hotel linked to Liam Payne’s sudden de.ath
Police in Argentina have reportedly uncovered a drug operation at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where former ‘One Direction‘ star Liam Payne fell to his death from his third-floor suite balcony on October 16.
According to the Argentine news site, two suspects, aged 21 and 24, have been identified among the three arrested in connection with Payne’s death.
The suspects are accused of supplying drugs to Payne, while a third individual is being investigated for allegedly abandoning him prior to his death.
The 21-year-old suspect, an employee at the CasaSur Palermo hotel from the Buenos Aires outskirts of Ingeniero Budge, allegedly provided Payne with cocaine on at least two occasions.
The 24-year-old, said to be a drug dealer from Berazategui, another Buenos Aires suburb, is accused of supplying narcotics to the singer in the days leading up to his death.
Payne’s close friend, Rogelio “Roger” Nores, has denied being involved, saying he would never have left Payne alone.
Prosecutors have dismissed any possibility of suicide, indicating that Payne was in a “semi or total unconsciousness” when he fell, likely unaware of his actions.
Toxicology reports showed the 31-year-old had consumed alcohol and cocaine, with traces of an antidepressant in his system.
Argentine prosecutors confirmed they had sought the arrests of the three suspects, but they were not home when police attempted to detain them.
They later turned themselves in and were released on bail, which includes a travel ban and weekly check-ins at court.
The men are now being formally investigated for allegedly abandoning Payne and facilitating drug supply.
