Diddy’s Lawyers seek case dismissal over prison cell raid controversy
During an emergency court hearing in New York on Tuesday, Sean “Diddy” Combs’s legal team argued that his case might need to be dismissed due to alleged prosecutorial misconduct.
Attorney Marc Agnifilo characterized the situation as a “complete institutional failure.”
The controversy centers around federal investigators’ seizure of 19 pages of Diddy’s personal notes during a cell search.
These materials reportedly included privileged communications with his legal team about defense strategies, a “Things to Do” list mentioning plans to “find dirt” on alleged victims, and personal motivational quotes.
Agnifilo suggested the cell sweep was a “pretext” targeting Diddy specifically.
He outlined possible remedies including case dismissal or the recusal of the prosecution team, stating “We don’t know enough to say which is the reasonable remedy.”
Judge Arun Subramanian has ordered prosecutors to delete all copies of the seized documents for now.
The defense team says they only learned about prosecutors’ possession of these materials on Friday, following the October 28 raid.
Diddy has been in custody since September 17, facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
His trial is scheduled for May, and he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The defense team is currently investigating the extent and implications of this incident.
