According to DAILY POST, the controversial artist, also called “Akpi,” was previously detained on October 4 after sharing a contentious video in which he allegedly mocked fellow musician Burna Boy’s ties to American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal issues with the FBI over allegations of sexual exploitation. Speed Darlington was released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.
However, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, announced via Facebook that the singer had been arrested again. “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a. Akpi, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria,” he wrote.
Attempts by DAILY POST to reach the Nigeria Police Force for comments were unsuccessful, as Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi did not respond to calls.
