Grammy Award-winning artist Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely recognized as Wizkid, has taken to social media to express his thoughts as his album “Morayo” continues to break records on various streaming platforms.
Wizkid released his sixth studio album, “Morayo,” on Friday, November 22, 2024, and within just six days, the album has amassed over 48 million streams.
Notably, Wizkid has achieved a new milestone as the most streamed album by an African artist on Spotify during its debut week, with “Morayo” featuring 16 tracks.
This accomplishment surpasses the previous record set by South Africa’s Tyla, which stood at 46.4 million streams in a week.
Additionally, one week post-release, Wizkid’s “Morayo” occupies all Top 16 positions on the Apple Music NG Top Songs Charts, marking it as the first album to achieve this feat.
In response to the remarkable records established by his album, Wizkid announced on his official page on X today that “Morayo” is the biggest album ever in Africa. He also discussed his upcoming tour and plans to visit Lagos in December.
