Attahiru: Britain Condoles With Nigeria

The United Kingdom through the British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing condoled with Nigeria over the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru.

The COAS died in a helicopter crash on Friday alongside 10 others in Kaduna.

“Profoundly shocked & saddened by this terrible news,” British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, said in a tweet.

“Our deepest condolences to the family & friends of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and all who so tragically lost their lives. I have sent condolence messages to @CDS_Nig Chief of Staff to @MBuhari.”

Lt. Gen. Attahiru and the other 10 officers were buried at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Saturday.

In his response to the incident, President Muhammadu Buhari said he was sad and sorrowful.

President Buhari described the military officers as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land.”
