Ebonyi State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA has said it received over 100 reports of rape cases and various other forms of violence against women and girl children in the State in 2020.

The State Chairperson of the non Governmental Organisation, Grace Iheanacho-Chima who gave graphic details of some of the reports received, calls for more collaborative efforts aimed at mitigating the trend in the State.

The event officially marked the end of the 2020 year activism against Gender-Based Violence by the female lawyers in Ebonyi State.

Like its counterparts across the world, FIDA, Ebonyi State chapter, strives to bring to an end the violence, abuse, exploitation and violation of women and children which have become prevalent in the society, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Ebonyi State Chief Judge, Justice Anselm Nwaigwe, who chaired the event, said the objective of FIDA is geared towards a better society.

The event featured award presentations to some individuals for their contributions to the fight against Gender-Based Violence, including the South East Coordinator, DAAR COMMUNICATIONS PLC, Kenneth Eseni.
