An ongoing investigation has revealed how negligence of members of staff of one of the foremost private hospitals in Ilorin led to the death of its patient.
News Hub Mag! reports that the late patient, a 39 year old man, reportedly visited the hospital alongside his wife and their five months old boy for check up when he eventually met his untimely death.
According to the information gathered before visiting the hospital, the deceased had complained of cough and was examined by a doctor who recommended a wider evaluation for him.
However, at the point of paying for the service at the cashier’s stand, he was reportedly informed to pay in cash whereas findings revealed that the hospital has two terminals to perform ATM card transactions and receive electronic transfers. The deceased was said to have collapsed and died in his bid to get the needed cash outside the premises of the said hospital.
News Hub gathered that the young man’s wife and toddler were in the hospital for about four hours waiting for his return oblivious to the fact that he had died by the road side and the police had been called upon to evacuate his corpse to the morgue of the same hospital.
OUR FINDINGS
When our reporter visited the hospital alongside other journalists, the head of admin and other senior members of staff denied sending the deceased out to get cash.
However, efforts to get the doctor and cashier who attended to the deceased and his wife proved abortive as they were said not to be on duty. Our reporter had to leave the premises after several hours of waiting.
Nevertheless further findings from the hospital revealed that the deceased complained of cough, easy fatigue and had no chronic medical condition. A wider evaluation of Mp chest xray ECG was recommended for him as further investigation to determine the true condition of his health.
News Hub will keep you posted as investigations continue towards unraveling the true circumstances that led to the
untimely death of the young man.
