We Are Ready For Talks Or War With Govt – Bandit Leader Bello Turji

Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has declared that his group is ready for either negotiation or war with the government.

This follows recent attacks on security forces in parts of Sokoto and Zamfara states.

In a recent video, the wanted kingpin claimed responsibility for the ambushes while stating that his fighters are open to peace talks if the government chooses dialogue, but remain fully prepared for armed confrontation if force continues.

In the video, which is dated June 20, 2026, Turji appeared alongside armed men in military uniforms and explained that his group launched the attacks to fight back against people who have been killing members of their communities and stealing their animals.

He said, “Some people who are chasing away our livestock are killing our innocent brothers and sisters, people who have done nothing wrong, in places such as Shinkafi in Zamfara State, Sabon Birni in Sokoto State and other surrounding areas.”

He added, “Allah granted us victory over these people who are carrying out these operations and driving away our livestock. We killed them. May Allah help us to succeed in defeating them and in recovering our animals from their hands.”

Turji used the rest of the video to send a message to the authorities about future peace talks, making it clear that his fighters will match whatever approach the government decides to take.

According to him, “If the government is ready for negotiation, we are also ready for negotiation. But if they want to continue with force, we are prepared. Our fighters are ready for whatever comes.” He further suggested that his group would not back down from armed resistance, saying, “We are ready for peace, but if they choose war, we are also ready. We will defend ourselves.”

The video surfaced just days after a deadly attack near Bargaja village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. In the attack, an explosive device detonated and gunmen opened fire on a military vehicle, reportedly killing at least four soldiers.
