Algeria’s President Tests Positive For COVID-19
CityNews Nigeria reports that Algeria’s President has tested positive for COVID-19.
Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced on Tuesday.
CityNews Nigeria recalls that Tebboune’s health has been subject of national debate for some time now, after he was hospitalized in Germany, following cases of coronavirus among his staff.
The statement said the 74-year-old “continues to receive treatment in a specialised German hospital after catching the COVID-19 illness.
“The medical team is reassured that the president is responding to treatment and gradually recovering.”
Tebboune was transferred from a hospital in Algiers to Germany last week, days after going into self-isolation.
Algeria has witnessed a resurgence in COVID-19 infections in recent weeks.
On Tuesday alone, the North African recorded 405 new cases along with nine deaths.
