Australia coronavirus surge linked to guards ‘having s.e.x with Brits’ at quarantine hotels

A surge of coronavirus cases in Australia’s most populous state has been linked to guards allegedly having s.e.x with guests – including some Brits – at quarantine hotels.

A £1.7 million inquiry was launched yesterday to determine whether the spike in Covid-19 cases in Victoria was caused by the bungled isolation programme at numerous five-star hotels.

Security staff and ‘quarantine-hotel insiders’ told The Sun some hotel guards had s.e.x with guests during quarantine, with some involved reportedly British.

It comes as Victoria reported 374 daily cases of coronavirus infections on Tuesday compared with 275 cases the day before – along with three new deaths.

A woman in her 100s, a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 80s have all died from the virus, Premier Daniel Andrews said in a media briefing in Melbourne.

The state so far has recorded just under 6,300 total confirmed cases of Covid-19, which is nearly half of the total infections in Australia.

Victoria’s government has enforced a six-week partial lockdown in the city of Melbourne and asked residents to wear face masks when they step outside their houses or risk fines to contain a flare-up in infections.
