The Federal Government has paid $120m out of the $1.3bn indebtedness to gas companies for the supply of gas to run gas-fired power plants across the country. Nigeria is currently suffering from low power supply because many gas suppliers have reduced, while others stopped supplying the commodity to power-generating companies due to the indebtedness of the Gencos to gas-producing firms. The Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, has disclosed that the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority has received over 1,577 petitions regarding real estate fraud from 2020 till date. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will bar over 42 million inactive mobile numbers from February 28, 2024, the TheCable reports. According to sources in the Commission, a total of 45 million lines in the country will be barred for not linking their subscriber identity module (SIM) with their national identification numbers (NINs).
