Nigerians on Twitter have come hot on the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for deleting a post which she announced the release of Katsina schoolboys.
Naija News understands that a post on Dabiri-Erewa’s micro-blogging platform account earlier claimed that the 333 boys abducted by Boko Haram in katsina have been freed. The post commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for a job well-done to rescue the children safely.
The tweet reads: “The 333 boys captured in katsina have been rescued. Alhamdulillah [email protected] administration has brought back our boys. #BringBackOurBoys . Our boys are back.”
However, a few moments later, Dabiri-Erewa denied on the same handle that she had lost control over her social accounts earlier, noting that she has now recovered the account and make changes to her access code.
She wrote: “Pls don’t credit any post on katsina boys to my Twitter handle. I lost control of my handle in the last couple of minutes, along with my Instagram. I have recovered and changed my password”
Subsequently, Dabiri-Erewa deleted the reportedly fake post, Naija News understands.
Her actions, however, stirred reactions on the bird app as Nigerians expressed disappointment with her on what they consider as ‘fake report’.
They also countered her for immediately deleting the post which claims the abducted Kankara school children have been released by the Boko Haram group.
Meanwhile, the United States government has warned its citizens resident in Nigeria to avoid travelling to certain locations in the country during the forthcoming Christmas and new year holidays.
Naija News reports that the warning was handed down by the US embassy in Abuja and consulate general in Lagos via a statement released on its website on Wednesday, 16th December.
