BREAKING: Chief Of Army Staff, Yahaya Appears Before Reps

The Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Farouk Yahaya has arrived the House of Representatives for screening.

The COAS will appear before the Joint House Committee on Defence and Army respectively chaired by Hon. Babajimi Benson and Abdukraq Namdas,CityNews Nigeria has learnt.

CityNews recalls President Muhammadu Buhari recently appointed Yahaya to replace former COAS, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru who died in plane crash in Kaduna.

Prior to his appointment, Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Theatre Commander of the Counterterrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code-named Operation HADIN KAI.

Yahaya was born in Sifawa, Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto state. He is married and blessed with children. He belongs to the Regular Course 37.

Buhari had last week Tuesday asked the Nigerian Senate to confirm Yahaya as the COAS.

The president, in a letter to the President of the Senate, urged the federal lawmakers to expedite his request.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter of request at plenary last week Tuesday.
