Breaking: Gunmen Raze Another Police Station, High Court In Imo
Unknown armed men on Saturday razed Atta Divisional Police Headquarters in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that the armed men also razed the Atta Magistrate and High Court and vandalized the community’s health centre.
The incident has caused serious panic in the community, as youths in the affected community nearly lynched a correspondent of Punch.
His gadgets were sized, damaged and money extorted from him.
It was reported that the armed men razed the building between 1 and 2 am.
Sources disclosed that the invaders shot repeatedly for close to an hour before setting the government facilities in the community on fire.
The crown prince of the community, Remigiius Azike, disclosed that the armed men attacked the community when the villagers had gone to bed.
A former president-general of the community, John Agbaso, who spoke on the development said residents of the community are in pain.
He said that it was just one week ago that the house of the president-general of the community, Chijioke Duruonyeokwu, was set ablaze by unknown people with his wife killed.
Agbaso called on the government to come to their rescue, the community leader said that insecurity was on the increase in the area.
He said, “I was the one who built the police station and the magistrate court and mobilised youths under the auspices of Transformations Ambassadors of Atta Nwambieri to build the high court. I did this so that our people will have access to government facilities. This latest incident is coming a week after they razed the house of our president general and killed his wife. The government should come to our rescue.”
