BREAKING: Miyetti Allah To Stop Cattle Sales To South

The on-going herders’ crisis may have taken a new turn for the worse as Miyetti Allah has threatened to stop selling cattle to southern Nigeria.

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has threatened to halt the selling and supplying of cattle to the southern part of the country.

The threat was given by the Bauchi State branch of MACBAN on Tuesday,CityNews Nigeria reports.

The group warned that it would carry out its threats if the planned eviction of the Fulani herdsmen by some state governors comes to stay.

Speaking at a press conference, the state Chairman of MACBAN Abubakar Sadiq also threatened to drag Benue Governor Samuel Ortom to court if he fails to withdraw statements he made against herdsmen.

“Unless he immediately withdraws his statement, it will be left with no option other than legal means to clear the name of Fulani as an ethnic group,” Sadiq said.

He blamed Governor Ortom for the persecution being faced by Fulani herdsmen, stressing that it all started with the Benue State anti-open grazing law.

“Although the law did not succeed but it has created problems for the herders.

“People must be fair to the Fulani race, they should not be branded as criminals. Government at all levels should create a conducive atmosphere for the Fulani and others to do their legitimate businesses without molestation and castigation. We are all Nigerians and must be treated equally as such,” he said.
