2020 Children’s Day: Innovative GTBank Raises The Bar Again, Holds Online Class For Children

As part of efforts to commemorate the Children’s Day, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc ( GTBank ) is holding a Nationwide online class through its #smartKidsSave account to improve educational outcomes for children in Nigeria. The online alternative to marking this year’s children’s day is not unconnected to the closure of schools in Nigeria as part of efforts to battle with the deadly covid 19.

Recall that On 20th March,2020 the Federal Government of Nigeria had ordered the closure of all schools across the country as a measure to fight the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Children’s Day is annually observed in Nigeria on May 27. Observance of Children’s Day in Nigeria is aimed to raise public awareness of problems, that children face. About 42% of the Nigerian population are children and 1/3 of children aged from 6 to 14 don’t go to schools. Many children leave schools for different purposes and children’s rights are often violated.
