Covid-19: NIPR Lagos Chapter lauds media for standing up to be counted in this trying period
COVID-19 pandemic has been an acid test of your competence and capacity in news reporting in times of crisis. Since the first reported case of the pandemic in Nigeria, you have braved the odds and reported consistently from the theatre of war against an unseen enemy.
You have lived up to the billing and reported news as it breaks helping to stem the tide of fake news and fear mongering! Whether at press briefings by government officials or reporting developments and happenings in communities across the length and breadth of the country, you have dared the odds to keep the people well informed. You have put yourself in harm’s way for the good of the people.
There has been accolades and appreciation from various segments of the society to people who are playing significant roles in the fight against the containment of the deadly virus, but none yet to appreciate the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
In view of the foregoing, the Lagos State Chapter of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations wishes to use this medium to salute your courage, bravery and professionalism in reporting in perilous times such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
On behalf of the Members of the Lagos State Chapter, I commend all the news and health reporters in all the news channels – radio, television, print and online for a job well done.
By the time this is over, you all are heroes worthy of celebration and deserving a place in our hearts.
Accept our commendation, best wishes and prayers for your protection against the virus.
Kudos to the Nigerian media.
