COVID-19: No New Case In Lagos, Plateau As NCDC Confirms 120 Fresh Infections
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday disclosed that the country recorded 120 new cases of COVID-19.
But many observers might be somewhat surprised by the new development as the two states, Lagos and Plateau, who are the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria recorded no positive samples on Monday.
CityNews Nigeria reports that The fresh 120 cases of the Coronavirus were confirmed in 12 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) on Monday.
The latest daily shows a slight surge in new infections compared to the previous day on Sunday, when the country recorded its lowest daily count since April with 58 new cases confirmed.
According to the breakdown of new cases on Monday, Rivers alone accounted for more than half the total figure with 65 positive samples, followed by FCT wit 12, and Ogun with nine.
Despite not recording any new cases on Monday, Lagos and Plateau, the worst hit states by the disease in Nigeria, still account for the most active cases in the country.
Out of Nigeria’s 7,401 active cases, Lagos currently tops the list with 4,197 patients, followed by Plateau with 749 infections.
However, A total of 183 people were discharged on Monday, increasing the total to 50,951, while no new death was recorded
