Dillian Whyte reveals why he lost to Povetkin, what will happen in rematch
Dillian Whyte has vowed to avenge his knockout loss to Alexander Povetkin in a rematch later this year.
Whyte had floored Povetkin twice by the fourth round, but was knocked out by a massive uppercut in the fifth.
The defeat has derailed his goal of challenging for Tyson Fury’s WBC heavyweight title.
On the knockout blow, Whyte told Sky Sports: “It was a silly mistake. I blocked that same punch 100 times in training. The one time it needed to be blocked, I was too late.
“But that’s heavyweight boxing, man. That’s what happens.
“In the rematch, I will handle business.
“You have to strike while the iron is hot. The time is now. There’s no point waiting into next year.”
