#EndSARS: Campaign Turns Violent In Abuja As Police Open Fire On Unarmed Protesters [VIDEO]

The renewed calls for the scrapping of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police have shaken the country and left it on the brink as youths in their thousands took to the street to demand an end to police brutality.

The protests have not been without hiccups and setbacks as altercations between police and protesters lead to violence and pandemonium.

At least two people were killed in Delta state after what started as calm agitation turned into a full-blown melee, while security operatives harassed and hounded protesters who kept vigil at the government house in Alausa, Lagos.

CityNews Nigeria reports that the situation turned worse on Tuesday as the EndSARS protest took off in Abuja. Protesters, who have converged to express their grievances, were brutalised.

Little did they know they were in for a rude shock, sooner had they begun the protest than they were faced with brute force by the police. They police fired live bullets at the unarmed protesters, teargas were also used on them.

The hapless protesters who were visibly terrified by the sordid incident were seen scampering for safety and running for their lives
