EPL:Stoke City Set To Sign Mikel Obi
Championship Club Stoke City are reportedly close to signing former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi.
The former Chelsea star is currently a free agent after leaving Trabzonspor as a result of a dispute arising from the league’s inability to stop the Turkish football season when coronavirus started ravaging the world.
According to BBC, Stoke City are on the verge of completing the deal to bring Mikel back to England.
Mikel spent 11 years at Chelsea winning all the trophies available before he left for China in 2017.
He had a brief spell at Middlesbrough in 2019.
The 33-year-old announced his international retirement after he led the Super Eagles to a third place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt.
He won 84 caps for the Super Eagles and participated in two World Cups and won the Nations Cup trophy in 2013.
